If by Windows XP you mean IE6, no.  We had the same problem with
Firefox as well - as shown in our bug report (there are screenshots
too).
OK.  I'll see if I can find a Windows box to test further.
I guess you're not getting the wierd characters like we are getting
but I don't quite understand that you said "It fails to update the
text" and then say "It works just fine".
I forgot to tell the spell-checker to apply the fixes the first time.  My bad.
Maybe someone else could try on a Redhat or Fedora system - all
versions except rawhide use the same aspell rpm.  I'll try to test
again on a vanilla Centos system when I have the chance.
Thanks.

I re-read the problem report on SourceForge.  The spelling correction
works just fine with aspell 0.50.3.  Any chance this is a Window XP
problem?  I'm doing all my testing with Safari.

Bleh, I can't seem to get aspell 0.60.3 to build on Solaris.  I'll
bang on it some more after getting feedback from the aspell developers.

I have Solaris 9 with aspell 0.50.3.  I was able to modify the
following French text slightly and aspell correctly found the errors I
had added, but _fails_ to update the text when I return to the compose
screen:

"Tous les êtres humains naissent libres et égaux en dignité et en
droits. Ils sont doués de raison et de conscience et doivent agir les
uns envers les autres dans un esprit de fraternité".

I'll upgrade aspell and re-test.

Definately not an IMP bug, but maybe a documentation bug.  I'd like to
confirm before updating the docs.

Matt, sounds like this should be closed as the problem is not in IMP?

Relevant fedora bugzilla report:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=141968

...It is for rawhide, so it's unknown if this update will make it into
FC3,FC4,RHEL3 or RHEL4.

If there's nothing the horde developers can do to fix this, then I'd
suggest at least to make a change to the IMP documentation.

Please update "Queue version" to 4.0.4rc2 - sorry, I did not log in so
I guess I can't change that myself.

I had my fingers crossed, but no luck with 4.0.4rc2.

Any other suggestions?  Change configuration somewhere?  It's not a
browser issue, I tried in Firefox and IE - same thing.

Can you retry this with imp 4.0.4-RC2?

We use IMP on SME Server (based on Centos 4.1).  A bug was reported on
our bug tracker -
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1296531&group_id=96750&atid=615772 - describing how spell checking did not work if the text contained accent characters in french (and I assume other languages).  Upgrading to rebuilt versions of aspell-0.60 from Fedora rawhide fixed the issue.  I'm not sure if aspell 0.50 works on other platforms, but for us, it seems that IMP requires aspell > 0.60.  This is contrary to your documentation, that suggests aspell > 0.50 is
recommended.

Is there a workaround to use the aspell 0.50 rpms that I don't know
about?  We'd prefer to use the stock rpms, but in this case it seems
necessary to upgrade.
