Also, you can already choose to go back to the mailbox.

I think the direction you go is a function of sort order, and only showing unread messages can be achieved with a virtual mailbox. So I'd like to reject this as unnecessarily complex.

When viewing a message, when one hit's the 'Delete' link the next message in the folder is shown unless the option, 'Return to the mailbox listing after deleting, moving, or copying a message?' is checked. It would be great to have that single option replaced with the following: After deleting, moving, or copying a message, do the following: - Return to the mailbox listing - Show the next unread message, or the listing if there are none - Show the previous unread message, or the listing if there are none - Show the next message, or the listing if this is the last - Show the previous message, or the listing if this is the first Of course, if the mailbox listing view is threaded, 'next' and 'previous' will have different meanings and I would imagine it would be best to move up/down the thread, or to the next/previous read/unread thread.
