ok, with dovecot it works ( even though I ran into out of memory issues with php ) What are the recommended settings for horde for memory_limit in php.ini ? Regards Volker

The best recommendation I can give you, is to switch to Dovecot as an IMAP server. Courier isn't able to handle very large mailboxes. There is nothing Horde can do about this.
