I'm using Cyrus for any Horde IMAP work since more than 15 years and spaces in folder names ever worked fine since then. You are running a very old IMP version though, so it might well be possible that you have hit some intermediate bug that has been fixed long ago. You're right updating fixed the problem.

When I try to create a folder name with space in it then it says: Sep 27 10:33:21 web2 HORDE: [imp] IMAP error reported by server. Unexpected extra arguments to Create [pid 11594 on line 570 of "/usr/share/horde/imp/lib/Imap.php"] Also imap folders with spaces in the folder name are shown empty, while there are mails in it.
