Nevermind, you talked about using Kronolith as a client for a remote calendar. This wasn't clear from your description.

You need a client that supports this. Kronolith supported this from the start.

Instead of asking the user to choose a calendar color and display name for remove CALDAV server, pick them from the server, as described at http://sabre.io/dav/clients/ical/ .
