And the use case is easily solved by using per-user shared calendars.

This is complicated by the fact that we offer per-calendar coloring, 
which would conflict with per-user colors. Add to this the fact that 
people want per-tag/category coloring too....

Other web services offer the opportunity to visually highlight dates 
added by different users in shared calendars (e.g. through different 
colours). Having this option would greatly increase the acceptability 
to use the Kronolith calendar.

I know of cases where teams at Universities use shared Google 
calendars instead of Kronolith although Horde is used at these 
institutions, because Kronolith's calendar interface does not easily 
allow to recognize which date "belongs" to which users (i.e. which 
date was addes by which user)
