re-create the ActiveSync account on the HTC fix the issue (for the moment?).

We replace the two HTC with Nexus 5X, this HTC devices cost me (and you) only Nerves. Indeed. Hopefully your new devices will make things better :) Yes, its a LG Nexus 5X with up-to-date Android ;)

Do you ever see a SENDMAIL request in the log? No. Sadly, nothing we can do if the device isn't even sending the request. The device receive and show new mails, but can not send one. Wipe has also no affect over 24h now. We replace the two HTC with Nexus 5X, this HTC devices cost me (and you) only Nerves. Indeed. Hopefully your new devices will make things better :)

This error happens when a client issues a PING request for a folder/collection (which monitors for changes) before it has successfully paired that collection with the server (with a SYNC request). A number of clients do this, and the error typically resolves after the SYNC request for that collection completes. Your log shows that this is happening for the Contacts collections, so I'm not sure why this is preventing you from sending email. Exactly what happens when you try to send it? Do you ever see a SENDMAIL request in the log?

I cannot send mails from my Android 4.4.2 HTC One mini2, Horde debug log show some synckey errors. 2016-03-30T10:38:03+02:00 ERR: [8343] Attempting to add a collection to the sync cache while requiring a synckey, but no synckey could be found. Most likely a client error in requesting a collection during PING before it has issued a SYNC.
