You can close this. It was a borked php setup on my end. Sorry to 
bother you guys with it here!
Works fine here. I send s/mime signed and/or encrypted emails
multiple times daily.
Then maybe you could help me out here and give me a pointer where to 
look, because the error message imp throws out seems clearly wrong 
from my end (feature requires secure web connection) as I already 
use that kind of connection. So to what is imp actually referring 
to???

When I try to sign/encrypt any email (not matter if I try s/mime or 
pgp) I get the following error after entering my passphrase and 
hitting enter in the yellow box.

"The encryption features require a secure web connection."

Needless to say that I am staring at a window which uses a https 
connection, so I am wondering what else has to be secured or what I 
miss here?

I used s/mime in the passed mainly for testing, so I am not sure 
exactly at what point in time (read updates) this stomped working, but 
it def. worked in the past.
