Let the user modify these items
create virtual searches/folders on the search page. This request is
essentially asking for a UI to be able to list a series of headers
they want to search. Not only is this not easily done given the
current UI/UX of the search screen, a user would ALSO have to have
knowledge of which search fields are text searches as opposed to flag
searches or combination searches.
That's a lot of UI issues to deal with for a feature that would have
little use. Unless someone is willing to fund this development, this
enhancement request will probably be rejected.

Let the user modify these items or (maybe better) add own search types.
Maybe a user has special needs or often uses for special criteria (in
my case, i want search for "from/to/cc/subject" all the time). The
user could use the advanced search, build the pattern without to set a
search term (e.g. keep the fields for subject and recepeint empty) and
save this instead as a search folder as a search pattern for the
dropdown list.
hope i could explain it with my english ;)
The idea springs from another enhancement report, where my initial
wish obviously makes no sense for the broad masses.
