There only is the SQL backend as an alternative, and that doesn't change the session id during authentication.

The standalone SyncMl server has the same problem of this ticket http://bugs.horde.org/ticket/9438. The fix was made on this file /SyncMl/lib/Horde/SyncMl/Backend/Horde.php but the problem still persist on thie one /SyncMl/lib/Horde/SyncMl/Backend.php
