Alright, I moved the checkbox, which I think is good, but I forgot how
much of a nightmare keeping track of the parent window is in
javascript - we lose it as soon as the page reloads. So I'm declaring
this good enough for now. We can improve it further with the other
tickets that relate to free/busy and attendees.

Any objections?
Not strong ones. :) I think it's a good compromise.

Okay, here's my proposal on this one:

- we move the "send updates" checkbox down to just above the bottom
set of buttons so that it's in your line of sight when you save the
event in case you need a reminder that you want to send them.

- we check it automatically when the user does anything in the
attendees window

Otherwise we leave things alone.

Any objections?

I think it could be interesting to have a preference and  user just
gets to pick which of the above they want to deal with.

That's why I suggested the visual cue to tell you that updates won't
be sent when you're making changes. If you add attendees to a new
event, I think we have to send emails by default. Anything else seems
to violate the "least surprise" principal.

Otherwise we have:

- always default to off, user always has to check it, pain in the ass.

- always default to on, attendees get email for irrelevant changes

- preference - both overconfiguration, and user just gets to pick
which of the above they want to deal with.

Not having the box consitently checked or not checked is a bad idea IMO.

Okay. Does it make sense to have it on by default for event creation,
off by default for editing, and to highlight the area (unless you
check it) if you change the event with a "changes have been made,
notifiy attendees?" notice?

Jan, can you refresh my memory on why we turned it off by default? I
think it makes sense that if you add attendees to an event, you intend
them to get email about it...

Have you planned to include this enhancement as a preference in future
releases?. We are very interested on it. So, I wonder if exists the
possibility that we collaborate with us developing this new
funcionality.

Thanks in advance.

We changed this by intention, it was the opposite before. People found
that more confusing than the current default behaviour.

It could be turned into a preference, but I'm not sure if this isn't
"over-customization".

We find it's a inconvenience to set the flag 'Send updates/invitations
to the attendees by default' when I create a event in the calendar. A
lot of times we forget to set it and the attendees of the event
doesn't receives the mail, so they doesn't have a notice about the
event.

Is there any way to set automatically the flag?

Thanks in advance
