This happens only with threads block. Forums and one thread blocks works fine. So I guess Messages.php in the constructor of this block get loaded before base.php.

That makes no sense, and I tested before replying and can't reproduce this. So something else is going wrong; your patch would just ignore the problem. Can you trace things a bit and figure out why that specific variable isn't loaded correctly?

It IS updated and $conf['threads']['split'] is set to false. But for some reason this variable is not initialized in portal view ONLY. Rest of Agora works fine.
