Went ahead and forced IE <= 7 to minimal view.  It doesn't appear that
any Horde developer has time to make these versions of IE compatible
with the new CSS/JS code, so it doesn't make any sense to try to
support at this time.

I agree with Michael. As it is now IE7 and IE compatibility view
users are unable to use Horde 5 in any meaningful way. Pushing IE 7
and IE compatibility view users to use minimal view at least enables
those users to read email with their browsers.
I think I was a bit unclear.  My concern is more of whether we should
be (essentially) cancelling support for a browser that still has 3%
market share.  Just because we can push those users to a minimal view
that works doesn't mean that's what we SHOULD be doing.

It's really a question of whether we believe we will alienate users
that are using an (admittedly) older browser vs. whether it is
acceptable to explain to them that their browser is old, they should
upgrade, and they will be unable to use the richer interface until
they do.

We can always push these browsers to the minimal view, but 3% is a
bit large of a group go do this in my opinion (about the same usage
as both Safari and Opera).

Confirmed with IE7. Maybe we should drop support for that too :-/
Little uncomfortable with this.  IE7 still has 3% market share:

Almost nothing works when using IE 9.0 or IE 8.0 compatibility view:
- Page rendering is broken, not even logout link is shown
- Names of folders are missing
- Javascript cache does not work: either javascript scripts fails to
load or is only load partially

Affected modes: Dynamic and Traditional.

Only mode that works in IE 9.0 or IE 8.0 compatibility view is Mobile
(minimal).

As IE 9.0 and IE 8.0 compatibility view identifies itself as IE 7.0
then this might also mean that Imp 6.0 is incompatible with IE 7.0.

How to reproduce problem:
Use IE 9.0 or IE 8.0 with compatibility view.
