RFC 2446, 3.2.2.6 says that uninvited attendees are allowed.

I'm going to revisit the iTip RFCs, unless someone beats me at it.

I can see the argument for allowing a reply to any invite - if you
have the group as an identity, we should probably reply as the group,
but otherwise, it's up to the receiver what they want to do with the
response. If nothing else a human could read it.

I'm fairly certain the other party is recognizing them.  When the
reminder iTip goes out, it includes the original group address and the
addresses of the individuals that have responded.

No. If you aren't in the attendees list, it doesn't make sense to
allow a reply, because the other party can't do anything with your
iTip reply. It doesn't recognize your email address.

No...  Why do I have to add every group address I'm on to my identity?
The reply box should always be there.

So we can close this now, right?

What if the invite is forwarded? I'm not sure here.
But it would be forwarded to extend the invite further, right?
Can you reply if you add the group address to your identities?
Yes.  I added the group address as an alias.

I received an iTip invite with a required participant of
mygroup@example.com, but I can't reply to the iTip since IMP doesn't
consider that address to be me.

If I received a copy of the invite, I must be an attendee who can
optionally reply, right?
