Given the fact that most backends would give us none of this 
information, I'm not sure I see the value of this. I'd rather see 
logging used for debugging purposes.

When filters are applied to email messages, you can optionally get a 
notification in the webmail client. It would, I think, be usefull if 
you can see what rule(s) got applied to the message. This will make it 
easier to debug problems with filters for users.
