Well, we already had to use indexed PNGs because IE6 doesn't support
alpha transparency. I wouldn't be surprised if these are exactly the
icons that cause problems with IE7 now. IE sucks.

Sorry. Runs just fine here.

Are you using 256 colors on your desktop or is it only a screenshot
saved this way?
Looks like you've nailed it. Theres a problem with IE/PNG's running in
256 color mode (as IE is from this thinclient). I tried it from
another machine running 32-bit color and everything looks fine.

Not all PNG's are affected, and when I convert to jpg or bmp and back
they look fine. Maybe a problem with transparencies?

I guess this could be relegated to be a Microsoft problem, the number
of users it affects is probably small. I've heard IE7 PNG support is
flaky.

Although, if theres an easy fix without breaking transparencies theres
no point in waiting for the fix from redmond that never comes.

I haven't seen this. Has anyone else?
If I should provide more information about the client computers I have
used let me know what you need.

I've seen this on XP PRO SP2, and 2000 or 2003 server (would have to
double check).

Using ImageMagick's 'convert' utility I was able to fix individual
images by converting to jpeg and back to png.

This wouldn't be my desired fix since the images end up larger in filesize.

ps. Converting to gif and back (default options) did not work.

Most of Horde's graphics (since the conversion to PNG?) have been
broken in IE7. Not sure why IE7 doesn't like these PNG's, but it
affects horde base/framework and imp (most recent versions).

Ive tested this on my own updated horde/imp installs, and horde
installs of others using IE7.0 release on several client machines, all
appear to have the same problem.

Since IE7 is now release code (and about to be pushed out in windows
update) this is a big issue.

A workaround might involve simply reformatting all PNG's to view
correctly in IE7.

Attached is a screenshot showing IE7 viewing bugs.horde.org (with PNG bug).
