Resolving this, as geocoding support in Ansel is being completely rewritten in Ansel 2 to utilize OpenLayers (which has Google API v3 support as one possible provider). Not going to spend time tracking this down in Ansel 1.x, which uses a now-deprecated version of the Google API.

I'll try to track this down when I have access to a machine with IE8 on it again. Might be Yet Another loading order issue. It might be worth noting this code will be completely rewritten for Ansel 2, using the OpenLayers library (along with the newest GoogleMaps API as well), so not sure how much energy should be devoted to this.

i put the block with newly added geo tags to my start page for ansel, and now i receive with ie8 a javascript error. chrome and firefox work well.
