PEBKAC, I had only refused PERMS_SHOW on the parent gallery, not on 
the sub-galleries, so they didn't show up in the main gallery listing, 
but in the right column.

Works fine here... can you provide more detail as to exactly what if 
failing? What perms the gallery that is or is not showing correctly 
has?  Where does it sit in the tree etc...

The block in the right sidebar that shows other galleries from the 
same user does not filter by PERMS_SHOW.
