$conf['compose']['add_maildomain_to_unexpandable'] = true;



Put "prince charles" in the To: field of the compose page.  This becomes:



prince.charles@columbia.edu



Making the address dot-separated doesn't make much sense.  If there 
are spaces in the address, then the domain should not be appended, and 
an error should be thrown.
