this is still present and very annoying when replying or sending out a

  is the HTML entity that corresponds to "non-breaking space".   
In other words, a single space.

It is appearing in the text version of your message.  This portion of 
the message is automatically created if the user responds via HTML.

The HTML->text conversion is done via PHP's built-in DOM manipulation 
library - which is powered by libxml.  If   exists after 
conversion, there is a bug in your version of PHP/libxml since all 
HTML entities are converted internally within that code.

I can't reproduce this behavior.
