Additionally, when importing a CSV file with no field names in the 
first row, the columns are correctly detected and are available to be 
matched to field names.

Cannot reproduce.

I can successfully import a CSV file (previously exported from 
Kronolith). The import step shows the column headers, and when 
indicating that they are field names, correctly detects available 
fields.

If importing CSV data via the basic view, no columns are detected from 
the imported file, so there's no assignment to internal fields possible.
