There is now SQL LOWER() call in Turba. You must have added this in 
your customization.
My apologies. You're right.
After some search, I found a previous post of yours which led me on 
the right track:

My backend configuration contained errors.

For a little while now, address lookup for the SQL address book 
backend doesn't seem to work.
Error message in the log:

   Sep 15 20:50:46 mm HORDE[14953]: [imp] QUERY FAILED: Incorrect 
parameter count in the call to native function 'LOWER'

If I deactivate all SQL-based address books, the LDAP address book 
backend works.
