It's already on my todo list to remove the sidebar from all global/horde pages.

The menu items in the preferences sidebar are only pertinent to the traditional view. Clicking on the items in dynamic view can cause unexpected results (e.g. clicking on Search or Folder List when changing IMP's prefs). I personally think the sidebar should not be shown at all in the preferences view. The topbar links are sufficient for a user to navigate back to the proper app after finishing editing the prefs.
