Oh, sorry, I was living under the impression that this setting had an influence on the folders in the traditional view/sidebar. Works perfectly here. Note that this preference has no bearing on the folder tree displayed in the sidebar (in traditional view), since that is not part of IMP.

With nav_expanded set to 1 ('Expand the entire folder tree by default in the folders view?' set to 'Yes') the folder tree will not be automatically expanded on login. It will be as long as the session is still alive, I guess but if I log out delete the session cookie and log in again the folder tree is not expanded.
