Problem was caused by external application firewall. Removal of matching rule solved problem.

There is no log entry whith exception of a successful post request to Apache.

I don't see this. Check the PHP/Apache logs too.

Steps for reproduction: 1. Add an external calendat URL e.g. http://bildungsklick.de/schulferien/berlin/ical 2. At this point everything works as expected 3. Delete this external calendar -> "Error when communicating with the server" appears No log entry is created.
