Yes, this works through a number of other 3rd party applications using
POP3 (Outlook, thunderbird), just not through webmail. I'll have
someone enable debugging and send you updated details on this case.
To further debug this issue, we need details of the IMP -> IMAP/POP
communication.
To enable debugging, see instructions contained in
imp/config/backends.php (the 'debug' config parameter).
Debugging should not be enabled on a production server, Attach/post
only the portion of the log that directly deals with the problem
reported (it may be simplest to clear the log file and then perform
the event that causes the error).

only shows the messsage "There are no messages in this mailbox."
additional information:
1. I checked via pop3 and I was able to download the messages with
outlook, so the mail is definitely on the server
2. I followed the instructions to confirm that the settings are set
correctly by sshing into the server directly, including making sure:
IMAP_DISABLETHREADSORT=0
was set, but i still experience this error.
