Both options don't sound very intriguing. Setting a trash mailbox for 
remote accounts would complicate the UI for remote accounts a lot. 
Moving them to the local trash folder is indeed a performance issue 
and a maintenance nightmare code-wise.

Currently, when you delete a message in remote account, it is deleted 
for good. It would be cool to be able to set a trash folder for every 
remote account or at least use a trash folder of main account (but it 
will be probably quite slow).
