Because in IMP 4, all messages are parsed by the c-client library. There is no reliable way of knowing if the subject is "bad" since c-client is not always consistent with the way it parses broken headers.

and why is that not a bug, why not handle that case, instead only saying message is bad?!?

The subject is invalid. It contains an 8-bit character.

I have some mails where there is no message subject displayed in folder listing when open the folder where the message is in. when opening the message itself the subject is displayed but not in the folder overview. the bad thing is if i configure that a klick on sender adress opens a new mail window i have no chance to open the message, because of no subject some sample message is attached
