I thought this was fixed by having Mike R. re-add the IMP API
authenticate code (?)

Sounds like a regression then.

I'm pretty sure that had been fixed in some IMP version. Are you sure
you are running the latest version?
To be on the safe side I updated CVS and horde/horde-hatchery GIT
repositories. Installed the latest frameworks from all three and
updated the config files (I use IMP and KRONOLITH from GIT). But the
"access denied" remains. Is there any other log file I should send?

So, this has nothing to with SyncML at all? Are you saying that
setting 'hordeauth' doesn't work anymore with current HEAD/Git?
Yes and no. When using  IMAP as authentication mechanism hordeauth
works but not  automatically on the initial login. I have to click on
imp once. The credentials are passed then and after that imp is logged
in, too and stays that way. No separate login is necessary. When I use
Imp for handling auth everything works except SyncML (other Apps like
kronolith, the portal etc work fine), so I suspected SyncML to be the
problem, it might as well be a problem with imp passing along the
credentials to syncml.

definitely works for me. Can you provide more information (versions,
log entries, debugging attempts)?
I use the latest code from the GIT and CVS repositories. horde.log and
Apache2s  error.log show nothing. I switched to an imp handled login
because the git version of imp would not automatically log in when
logging in to horde, so the sidebar wouldn´t show any new mails or the
different folders.  If I opened the inbox IMP would log in stay logged
in. Maybe the problem now is similar.

That's what 90% of people use and it seems to work for them. It
definitely works for me. Can you provide more information (versions,
log entries, debugging attempts)?
The log.txt of  SyncML say that the the authentication is invalid, but
the credentials are surely right.

Do you use realms?
No, just one server, plain usernames without domains.

In my horde installation I do the authentication via an IMAP Server
and SyncML works fine. Lately I had "imp" handle the authentication
(in the end IMP authenticates against the same IMAP server). Things
work as expected except for SyncML. I get an "access denied" when
trying to sync. Re-enabling IMAP auth fixes that and sync works as
usual.
