I agree with Jan.  For AJAX-y apps, we have the growler js library 
(e.g. imp, kronolith) which allows sticky messages to be closed via a 
button.

That's indeed obsessive :) I don't think that makes much sense in a 
page-view-based application, unless with notifications like the alarms 
that would reappear on each page load (and thus already has such a 
button).

I'd like to be able to dismiss Notification messages with a click, 
without refreshing the whole page.



This is probably just me being obsessive, but it fits in with 
humanized messages and perhaps how things are starting to work in DIMP 
as well.
