Nowhere in the bug report was there any mention of basic view. All bugs that don't specify the view are assumed to be dynamic since basic view is deprecated.

Can't reproduce with 6.1.4 in dynamic view.

I search for mails using Search within the folder. Select some mails for deletion, delete the mails. They get marked as deleted. But, when I purge the mails, I see those mails getting replaced with 'From' INVALID ADDRESS and 'Subject' as 'NO SUBJECT'. But, when I return to folder, such mails won't exist.
