The bottom bar has been added. I'll leave making it a full-thread
toolbar for the other related tickets.

That sounds like a nice addition to me. I have found myself deleting
or moving a whole thread more than once.

For some reason my quoted text in thread view is not collapsed by
default nor even collapsible, was that added to the source code but
not released in a stable release yet?

The point about the home key is well taken, but I'm usually in mouse
mode until I actually compose a message and getting to the home key is
not quick and it's a two handed process on my PowerBook (fn+left arrow).

Actually, what I'd really like to see here is the top and bottom bar
of the standard opened message.  It won't have all the options, but it
could have Delete (mentioned in a previous request), Forward (the
whole thread in one message), Save As, Print, Mark As, Move, Copy, and
Back to mailbox links.  Could also have the forward and back arrows
that would move to the next thread/message as appropriate.

Of course, in that case Delete Thread, Mark Thread As, Move Thread,
and Copy Thread would all act on all the individual messages of the
thread.

Having that bar available at the top and bottom of each thread would
satisfy my desire for this request and add some other good
thread-based functionality as well.

Not sure if this makes sense. Quoted text is collapsed by default in
the thread view anyway. Beside that the bar would be ambiguous,
because we can't have the "Back to message" link, otherwise it would
be confusing, no other message in the thread view has another back
link at the bottom. A bar without this link is confusing too though,
because it looks different than the other bars. Finally you can easily
reach the top (and all available links there) by hitting the home key
once.

When reading a thread in thread view with long messages (for example
when each person quotes the entire thread), there is no navigation
when you reach the bottom of the last message.  A repeat of the Back
to Thread Display | Go to Message | Back to Mailbox navigation links
would be convenient.
