It also works in the traditional interface only. In the future we should use the Horde_Alarm framework for that, i.e. implement a listAlarms() method in IMP's API to poll the to-be-polled folders for new messages and raise alarms for those. This way you will get notifications of new messages in any application, in any interface mode. I thought, when the alarm-framework is used, I can get these notifications even in Google Chrome, to get the user informed, that new mails arrived. The user will not notice a new mail, when the browser is minimized, or it's in the background, since the internally displayed popup will be flushed after some seconds. A desktop notification for new mails similar to alarmed events (with desktop-notification of course) in kronolith would be great.
