I have installed the packages on a Karmic install. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horde3/+bug/519160.

I cannot subscribe to the calendar at all, but can only access it via the web interface. I've tried using Lightning in Thunderbird and Evolution - both result in erros and cannot display the calendar. The link for the subscription provided by Kronolith, when pasted into a new browser tab, results in an HTTP 400 error.

Sorry, pasted this in the other bug report but not here:

Log from apache:

IP ADDRESS - - [08/Feb/2010:22:01:39 -0800] "GET /horde3/kronolith/ics.php?c=user HTTP/1.1" 400 500 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.7"

I've been successful in following the other method of accessing the ics file directly. However this is a very different manner of subscribing compared to using the built-in functionality of kronolith, and I'd like to get the latter working.

Thanks for your help!

Why? This method is deprecated and already has been removed for future versions.

The error log did not roll. I had set my apache loglevel to debug.

> Why? This method is deprecated and already has been removed for
> future versions.

Because it is the only way I can get things working. I'd rather use the appropriate way though.

Upon retesting though after getting the other method working, this method now works as well! I believe the difference was I had to install something via pear. This wasn't in the docs I was reading for the proper method but was for the old method.

Old method doc link: http://wiki.horde.org/KronolithSunbird
Command I ran that I hadn't before: pear install HTTP_WebDAV_Server-beta

New doc I followed: http://wiki.debian.org/Horde#InstallingandconfiguringKronolith

Maybe this is simply a doc issue - I don't seem to be able to edit that page on the wiki.

Agreed - good point. I've updated my Ubuntu bug with this info.

The command in question is in the horde install doc on horde.org. Could it also be added to the Kronolith install doc, as the Kronolith install doc includes a few other pear checks - it might be a good idea to add this one as it is required for things to work, whereas the horde install doc keeps the command in the optional section.
