It sounds like it might be related somehow to corrupt permissions data in the ansel_shares_* tables. Either that or a bug in the permission logic, but like I said, it's working fine here. What type of database are you using (mysql, postgres etc...)? If you fluent in SQL, you can look a the ansel_shares tables and see what values are there for your galleries. If the gallery is empty (or contains only a single photo) then it will only appear under "My Galleries". Set this to '0' to have no lower limit. It would have been helpful to know that the affected galleries also contained no images.... this is also a consequence of the numlimit pref, but this time it's ignoring the fact that you are not a guest.
