Changing the meaning of IMAP \FLAGGED flag was not a good idea. We have 50000 users that are used to the existing semantics. Almost all MUAs are rendering the flag as Important, and it shouldn&#039;t be changed too lightly.



Furthermore, because someone has set the flag manually, the MUA shouldn&#039;t clear it. It seems like a bug to me.



(If the flag was named plain &quot;Flagged&quot;, users could give it their own interpretation. After all, that&#039;s the way IMAP has it.)</description>
