If this is the unified search module, which sounds about right
(perhaps with a specialized Block), we don't need a ticket for it.
Also, it's generated zero interest.

Yep - the thought that was going through my head earlier was that what
I was describing was the unified search module :)

Invoke the methods of each app to return results, also provide a
portal block where you can supply these arbitary searches and you
have a vacation tracker, or an anything else tracker :)  Provide the
ability to save searches and you have a Virtual <anything> (akin to
IMP's Virtual folders, or my Turba Virtual contact list's idea) but
generalized to accomodate anything you want.
Sounds like an extension to the idea behind the 'unified search
module' bounty...

Would this be an app or more of a portal block?  Because I'm thinking
more of the latter, because its a specialized case of a search.

But, if you were to generalize this, and make it be a search interface
instead:

SELECT <entity> FROM <app> WHERE <criteria>

where entity = person, place, thing, whatever

app = kronolith, imp, whatever

criteria = [category=vacation], [date < today], whatever

Invoke the methods of each app to return results, also provide a
portal block where you can supply these arbitary searches and you have
a vacation tracker, or an anything else tracker :)  Provide the
ability to save searches and you have a Virtual <anything> (akin to
IMP's Virtual folders, or my Turba Virtual contact list's idea) but
generalized to accomodate anything you want.
