The need for this was driven home yesterday during training, when I found the users were ignoring the entire invitation message. First, they tried clicking on the new attend.php links in the message, and were prompted with a warning about "Potentially Dangerous URL", which is Not A Good Thing, when its generated by your own application :) So then they just manually updated the event on their calendar - they didn't see or understand what the iTip attachment was for.
