"Thunderbird freezes when adding CalDAV calendar with VTIMEZONE" https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1849540#c16 ) the combination of two bugs - one bug in Horde and one bug in Thunderbird - let Thunderbird freeze / hung.
