Yes, it's true that it looks ugly. How about creating a configuration 
option to enable  a frame, so that it would be update-safe?



I'd provide a patch if you like.

This is not possible without having an ugly border between the frames. 
You can change templates/index/frames_index.inc if you wish.

This is correct, but unintuitive to the user. A draggable frame would 
be a better solution.



The current method of setting the frame size manually is some kind of 
"trial-and-error".

The left pane is sometimes too small to display all stuff, especially 
when using IMP with alot of folders.



The left pane should be a resizable frame.
