On selecting a folder, if that folder has only a small number of mails
(fewer than 9 in my case), the preview pane appears higher up the
screen than it would normally do - eg directly under the "no messages
to display" text if the folder is empty.
Switching the preview off then on again puts the pane where it should be.

shifted to the bottom of the screen. Changing folders brings it back
to the correct position.
