Done some more testing (including Hex-dumps of exactly what IMP is sending). (d)IMP is sending fine - it's not stripping the trailing space after the dashes, so it does seem to be a problem with the reader I'm using (Thunderbird). Forcing DelSp=No on IMP gets Thunderbird to display the footer correctly (but probably breaks tons of other stuff !) . Feel free to mark as Bogus :)

I'm wondering if this is a Thunderbird problem with DelSp ? These messages display fine within IMP but not Thunderbird.

If precede signature with dashes is enabled the formatting goes slightly wrong. Also affects IMP. eg. Footer set to; Regards, Joe Bloggs arrives as ; --Regards, Joe Bloggs
