this point...but current FRAMEWORK_3 code (as well as HEAD) is working
as expected for me. I can create a new address book, add permissions
to groups/users to read and edit the new address book, log out, log
back in as another user with permissions to that address book, add a
new contact to the shared address book, log out, log back in as me,
and I see the entry. Likewise, any entry I add is visible to the
other user as well.
Is anyone else able to reproduce this? If so, can you please post
details on how to reproduce this behaviour.

Users can add entries to the shared address book - and they can see
the entries which they have created - but they cannot see entries
created by other users.
