As Mike points out, we already have this feature.

What about using IMP's ability to download folder contents as a .zip?

I use IMP through a service provider and I find its greatest weakness
is a direct result of its greatest strengh. Being able to access my
current mail from anywhere is very powerful, but I would like to see
support for selectively archiving mail on my main local machine rather
than a server where I am granted limited disk resources. Presently, I
use an alternate POP3 client, but it downloads all my current mail too
(non-selective), doesn't have a means of retrieving sent-items, and
IMP no longer has any knowledge of the messages. It would be great to
click the checkbox of specific messages and be able to offload them
from the server to a specified place, similar to the deleting
operation, but retaining them in an archive. A bonus would be to be
able to recall them from the archive as well.
