Yes, Outlook (in exchange/corporate mode, not standards mode) is the
only way I've been able to create a folder with a forward slash.

And rereading what I just wrote, I added nothing to Chuck's analysis
:)  I guess my comment is simply that I agree with Chuck's reasoning
and that there is most likely no way to work around this.

Aren't these folders with the forward slash being created via Outlook?
If so, Outlook doesn't use IMAP to connect to an Exchange server.
So maybe it's a case that Microsoft's proprietary Exchange connection
protocol allows forward slashes while IMAP doesn't, so exchange simply
doesn't offer the folder name when connecting via IMAP.

I'm stumped. I've verified that I can, in fact, make a folder with a /
in it through Outlook. But when I connect to the exchange server
directly via IMAP and do a:

0 LIST "*" "*"

... which should list all folders, the ones with "/" in the name
simply aren't listed. It's as if Exchange *knows* that it can't really
get away with allowing folder names containing /, so it fudges it and
pretends they don't exist to standard clients.

So unless someone can point out something I'm missing, I don't think
this is an issue that is a). IMP's fault, or b). anything we can work
around.

Okay, I'll have a look at some point next week at work where I have
access to an Exchange server.

I can assure you it is possible to have a forward slash in the actual
folder name itself. Please advise if I can be of assitance in
debugging this.

This report doesn't really make sense. Forward slashes just mean a
subfolder to Exchange, and I've done that successfully before. If
folders aren't showing up, it's either an exhange issue or a
configuration issue.

Possibly yeah, but no developer currently has an Exchange server to
test this, so someone who has one has to fix it.

While I understand some mail clients do not allow you to put a forward
slash in a mail folder. MS outlook/Exchange does. These folders are
not appearing in IMP. Is  it possible to fix this?
