The problems are that 1) we don't know exactly which keys are 
reserved, because the editor is a third-party software, 2) the 
reserved keys vary on browser an OS basis, and 3) we (technically) 
don't have a way to reserve access keys for external usage.

I agree, but wouldn't it be clearer to remove at least the underlining 
which suggests that the Alt-x access key is working ? It's just a 
minor interface 'bug' ... the screen representation doesn't really 
match the functionnality ...

The WYSIWYG editor has its own key handling, without that it won't
work at all.

The Alt-x access key to the message text is not working in HTML 
composition mode.

Also, the message text is not easily accessible any more through tabulation
