We should instead store the last menu state in a persistant cookie. Maybe controlled by a preference, like the folder navigator expansion? See also ~~request 1564~~. I know I have to option to enable saving state for the menu, but I'd prefer to default a section open reguardless of whether the user has legged in before.

I would like to have the JavaScript sidebar menu on the left default to closed for everything except for the menu options under a certain section. For example, I would like to have the IMP menu section open by default, but leave the other sections like Kronolith the way they are now.
