Actually, you should be able to set a pair of encode/decode hooks on 
the field and handle it perfectly that way. See 
horde/config/hooks.php.dist for examples.

what about serialize?



otherwise I suggest to just remove the complex types from 
turba/config/attributes.php.dist

Right; we don't do any sort of handling for array or complex types in 
Turba. Any suggestions on _how_ to store these?

when I use an attribute with type 'set', the attribute won't be stored 
on my sql backend. the field just remains blank.
