"oldversion" to make a patch against. The old version for final
releases is given as the previous final release. We would need to add
code to the script to allow multiple old versions to generate patches
against (both previous release and previous release candidate). We
open a new enhancement ticket for this feature.
patch from 3.04 -> 3.05-rc1 -> 3.05-rc2, its a lot easier to go from
3.05-rc2 -> 3.05 than it is to reverse the whole process and then go
from 3.04 -> 3.05 (one step versus three steps). Plus, if you're like
me, and aren't keeping your own local modifications in a local CVS
repository, you have to unmerge any of your own local changes that are
affected by the RC patches, which I currently manually do as I apply
the RC patches (essentially remove whatever part of the patch I
already installed to get a bugfix or that conflicts with local code
modifications).
