Hi Jan,

Thanks for your reply. The problem didnt happen because we changed the
system. Infact we hadnt touched the webmail configuration for more
than 1 year! The only reason we tried putting the same setting on some
other system was because we read (thru google search) that
segmentation faults can happen due to RAM problem. We tried reseating
the ram on the original system, we also tried replacing the ram but to
no avail.

The other reason which I read was that the segmentation fault can
happen when the program tries to access memory which it is not
*supposed* (kernel actually blocks such accesses)

I went thru the mailing lists, I find there are other guys who had the
same problem and no conrete reason/work around was suggested.

Thanks for your help, hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Chirag

Segfaults are never the fault of PHP code like Horde or IMP. And if
you change your system and the software stops working, why do you
think it's the software's fault?

We are using horde framework to connec to various IMAP servers across
our intranet.

OS: SUSE SLES8

Apache 1.3

All was working well(about 2 years!), suddenly one day we faced a
problem in sending mail after composition of a new message.

After user logs in he is able to view all his mails, when he composes
the mail the new window opens as usual. He is able to type in allthe
fileds like emailaddress body etc.

While sending the mail by click ing on send message button, the window
tries to send the mail, but timesout after sometime (page cannot be
displayed)

We have noticed that

1. The /var/log/httpd/error.log shows  " child pid 1998 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11)" as soon as the send message button is clicked.

2. There is nothing logged on the /tmp/horde.log file

3. Sometime message gets delivered to the recipient and sometimes it doesnt.

We found that there could be a problem with the hardware or the
programming logic used,

hence  we installed the samething on some other server with fresh OS
installation.

Can you please help out us in this problem?

Regards,

Chirag
